Description:
Job Summary:

The Medical Staff Services Coordinator will partner in leading the Team by processing credentialing files efficiently, identifying best practices, and participating in ongoing improvements. They will lead in the development of processes to meet the needs of the departments assigned scope of work. The Medical Staff Services Coordinator will be responsible for partnering with Leadership to ensure compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards.


Essential Responsibilities:


  • Oversee Credentialing Expirable Process.

  • Follows and ensures the workflow processes to manage the Expirable for Medical Licenses, DEA/CSR Certifications,

  • Board Certifications, Certificates of Insurance, and Life Supports, ensuring renewals occur timely.

  • Coordinate team activity to ensure all expirable are renewed in a timely manner.

  • Provide activity and volume reports monthly.

  • Assist in the creation of delineation of privilege forms and systems to process privileges.

  • Provides support with Hospital Privileging.

  • Participates in Department Internal Audits to ensure compliance.

  • Reviews elements of completed credentialing files for compliance with department guidelines and data entry.

  • Documents findings and confirms corrections prior to file submission to Department Chairs and Credentials Committee.

  • Identifies areas needed for clarification and/or training opportunities.

  • Assist with the review of processes and workflows for the Department, identifying Best Practices.

  • Reviews and processes credentialing applications for completeness following department guidelines and Follows system workflows and published timelines.

  • Assist with investigating, and documenting adverse issues identified.

  • Holds all information in strict confidentiality according to the documented signed confidentiality agreement.

  • Obtains accurate and complete primary source verifications for required elements.

  • Maintains accurate information in the department database and other systems.

  • Assist with Medical Staff Meeting Management and CME Activities.

  • Reports any ongoing monitoring of License Sanctions, OIG and Sam Sweeps and Continuous NPDB Queries when issues are reported or discovered on practitioners with membership and or privileges of the Medical Staff.

  • Assists in the onboarding and ongoing training of new and existing staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Experience


  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in health care with three (3) years of experience related to credentialing, privileging, and/or accreditation.


Education


  • Associates degree or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.


License, Certification, Registration


  • Provider Credentialing Specialist Certificate within 24 months of hire



Additional Requirements:


  • Proficient use of computer-based programs, databases, and Microsoft Office Programs.

  • Problem-solving, Team Building, Communication, and Teamwork.

  • Knowledge of the health care and credentialing industry, including medical-legal issues and laws, regulatory standards as related to credentialing, privileging and peer review, and other national standards.

  • Results orientated, conflict resolution, time management skills and organized.



Preferred Qualifications:


  • CPMSM (Certified Professional Medical Staff Management) preferred, not required.

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
