The Anesthesia Technician supports the Anesthesia providers in delivering quality care to patients undergoing outpatient surgery and/or Anesthesia Interventional procedures. Maintains a clean, organized, and well stocked workroom. Maintains clean, functional anesthesia equipment. Provides assistance with patient care during procedures. Demonstrates excellent communication skills. Provides patient care in a safe, comfortable, private environment. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for practice, continued growth, and self-evaluation.
- Maintains a clean, organized and well stocked Workroom. Assures an adequate inventory of supplies (medications, emergency supplies and advanced airway equipment) and clean functioning equipment to meet daily needs of ORs and Pain Clinic. Monitors expiration dates, rotates stock, removes outdates. Cleans and restocks Anesthesia carts, regional block carts, and Anesthesia machines daily. Cleans shelves and drawers in workroom monthly and maintains a cleaning log. Cleans and puts equipment away at the end of each day. Specialty carts cleaned, monitored, restocked and logs maintained per schedule and after use - including: Difficult Airway, Pediatric, Malignant Hyperthermia, Latex allergy, and Block.
- Maintains clean, functional anesthesia equipment. Cleans and maintains anesthesia equipment, machines and monitors. Coordinates repairs/maintenance with BioMedical
- Support daily work of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Assures special equipment is in operating rooms (ORs) as needed for cases. Delivers supplies and medications, as directed by Anesthesia provider, to the ORs throughout the day. Troubleshoots problems with anesthesia equipment, machines and monitors. Assists Anesthesia provider with difficult intubations. Provides assistance to Anesthesia provider with regional anesthesia blocks. Responds to codes, and other emergencies in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Monitors and records department quality controls, i.e. refrigerator temp. Provides input to ASC leadership team on Anesthesia Department support and issues.
- Assisting with procedures. Assures needed supplies and equipment are available to provider. Practices aseptic technique. Rooms, positions, and supports patients during procedure. Takes, records and reports vital signs. Documents objective information into the electronic medical record (EMR) (EPIC, PICIS, etc). Participates in universal protocol time-out procedure with Anesthesia provider and document that it was done. Provides patients with post-procedure documentation (i.e. After-Visit summary) following Anesthesia Interventional procedures. Performs point-of-care testing such as blood glucose and reports and records in electronic medical record.
- Communication and Coordination of Care - Communicates in an attentive and individualized manner. Demonstrates skills in communicating with patients and their family. Problem solves and communicates effectively with team members. Safety - Help ensure patient care is provided in a safe, comfortable, and private environment. Provides a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees by adhering to departmental and KPWA Operational Policies for Infection Prevention/Control and Employee Health, and Safety and Security. Protects patient privacy by adhering to departmental and KPWA Operational Policies for Confidentiality and Security of Information. Professional Development - Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for practice, continued growth and self-evaluation. Identifies own learning needs and develops plan to meet those needs in collaboration with manager. Collaborates with manager to complete self and colleague/team performance reviews.

- High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) required. Completion of an Anesthesia Technician training program or equivalent Hospital or Military training.
- Basic Life Support
- New graduate from Anesthesia Technician program welcome to apply.
- Basic computer skills in a MS Windows environment.
- Customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of infection control standards including aseptic technique.
- Two (2) or more years of recent continuous experience as an anesthesia tech or equivalent military experience in anesthesia.
- National Certified Anesthesia Technician credential or the ability to obtain in one (1) year from hire date.
