Description:
Job Summary:

Under supervision, maintains efficient operations of the service area/medical center simulation program.  Provides program support and assistance to the Staff Education department, internal and external customers.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Provides oversight for the Simulation Labs and all simulation equipment.

  • Maintains simulators, video systems and other simulation associated equipment, supplies and consumables used in simulation programs.

  • Ensures correct functioning of equipment.

  • Maintains simulation equipment inventory.

  • Completes minor repairs of equipment and/or calls vendor as necessary for repair of equipment.

  • Coordinates transport of simulation equipment.

  • Provides orientation/instruction for the proper operation of simulators and associated equipment to physicians, educators/Clinical Nurse Specialists and other staff.

  • In collaboration with the manager/Nurse Educator provides coordination and support in all aspects of simulation training.

  • Provides assistance and support in the preparation and operation of simulation training.

  • Assists with simulation in the Simulation Lab and patient care areas.

  • Takes direction from the manager or his/her designee in organizing, planning and coordination of simulation programs.

  • Uses discretion and based on priorities, commitments and current projects, assesses urgency/priorities for simulation and Simulation Lab requests.

  • Collaborates with Nurse Educators/Clinical Nurse Specialists and others to assure desired outcomes.

  • Provides support and coordination of projects with others outside of the department.

  • Arranges schedule to assist in setting up and participation of all aspects of simulation training.

  • Maintains a library of Simulation/CETT training programs.

  • Assists in development of scenarios for education and training.

  • Responsible for maintaining and coordinating Simulation/Simulation Lab reservation calendar.

  • Responsible for compiling accurate records of Simulation Lab and simulator use.

  • Responsible for accurate maintenance of simulation attendance records.

  • Organizes and maintains confidential department records and files.

  • Coordinates and plans for conference rooms, conference calls, and other meeting events.

  • Arranges for electronic conferencing as needed.

  • Participates in Regional and local simulation committees or arranges for representation by available staff member.

  • Tracks, monitors and produces budgetary reports as requested.

  • Tracks and compiles expense receipts and prepares monthly expense reports.

  • Uses a variety of software to prepare and format interoffice communications, letters, reports, confidential documents, etc.

  • Prepares presentations and other requested graphs and charts using desktop publishing.

  • Briefs manager on key issues and simulation matters to be considered by department or service.

  • Completes special assignments for manager which require researching issues, locating, analyzing and summarizing data and producing reports requiring specialized content knowledge.

  • Interacts on a regular basis with physicians, staff and individuals outside the organization (e.g., academia members, vendors, contractors, and the news media) on matters related to simulation activities.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
    Basic Qualifications:

    Experience


    • Minimum of one (1) year fulltime or two (2) years part time experience in the last five (5) years in a customer/patient service area in a health care setting required.  

    • Knowledge of PC applications required.  

    • Demonstrates written and verbal communication skills.  

    • Medical terminology required.  

    • Transportation required.  

    • Must be willing to travel to all Orange County medical centers and medical office buildings.  

    • Must be willing to travel for regional meetings.  

    • Hours may vary.  

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.  

    • Must be able to work in a Labor-Management Partnership environment.

    • High School graduate or GED.

    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.

    • Able to perform analytical review of data using a computer.

    • BA or BS preferred.
