Description:
Job Summary:

Within the medical imaging application support team, provide responsive second-level support, both local and remote, to end users of applications, dedicated imaging workstations, and related servers.  This includes in-depth application functionality and configuration, user management, data correction, complex troubleshooting/problem solving, inter-application dependencies, network connectivity, HL7 and DICOM communication and configuration, and hardware maintenance.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide responsive second-level support, both local and remote, to end users of applications, dedicated imaging workstations, and related servers.
  • In-depth application functionality and configuration, user management, data correction, application upgrades, complex troubleshooting/problem solving, inter-application dependencies, network connectivity, HL7 and DICOM communication and configuration, hardware maintenance.
  • Demonstrate ownership and a commitment to resolving problems, while recognizing when problems need to be escalated to the next level to ensure timely problem resolution. Periodically communicating issue status to customers, including resolution.
  • Work closely with other Kaiser Permanente support departments (IT, Clinical Technology, etc.) and vendors to provide seamless support of shared systems.
  • Ability to understand and apply HIPAA/SOX established standards
  • Document support activities in a complete and timely manner.
  • Provide ongoing application functionality instruction to end-users as necessary.
  • Support hardware and application replacement and upgrade activities.
  • As requested, participate with the Solutions and Strategy team in development activities.
  • As needed, participate in the implementation of new applications and devices.
  • Assist in establishing application support policies and procedures.
  • Assist Imaging Application Administrator Level I.
  • Can be located in a specific medical area or at a regional facility.
  • Some travel required.
  • Expected to provide after-hours support on a rotating, scheduled basis.
  • Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience providing comprehensive dedicated support of multi-tiered medical applications, including database, network, client/server and user management related activities.
Education

  • Bachelors degree in computer science, information technology, electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • CompTIA Network+ Certification OR CompTIA A+ Certification
Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work in high-pressure environment, involving multiple interrelated applications.
  • Strong skills required in critical thinking and analysis, problem solving, troubleshooting, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal interactions (e.g. partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.).
  • Ability to adjust style and communications, as necessary, to customers with a variety of levels and technical knowledge, including leaders, clinicians, staff and other support personnel.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the DICOM and HL-7 Standards.
  • A comprehensive understanding of workflow in a medical imaging environment.
  • American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII), Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) designation preferred.
