Description:
Job Summary:

Performs variety of clerical and cashier duties pertaining to servicing gift shop customers and maintaining financial records of gift shop revenue.

Essential Responsibilities:


  • Services customers. Maintains knowledge of merchandise. Locates replacement stock. Receives cash, check and credit cards for payment. Replenishes shelves as needed.

  • Balances monies against register tape at end of day. Prepares deposit bag for bank. Enters daily revenue on monthly summary form. Processes summary forms for accounting department at month end. Transmits Visa/MasterCard data via automatic draft capture machine. Prepares register for opening. Ensures appropriate bills and change in safe.

  • Orders over-the-counter (OTC) products from wholesalers, purchasers, and other vendors. Processes and reconciles invoices and related OTC documents.

  • Gathers, computes and compiles statistical data regarding shop revenue for routine reports, inventory review, cost information and other studies.

  • Operates standard office equipment. Operates OTC ordering software and equipment.

  • Receives and checks-in new merchandise. Verifies accuracy and condition of items against invoices/packing slips. Reports discrepancies to manager.

  • Provides volunteers with direction, support and monitoring as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience


  • Minimum three (3) months of cashier experience.

Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent related experience.
License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A
Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to operate cash register and calculator, give proper change, prepare bank deposits and resolve cash register errors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, oral communication, problem solving and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Purchasing experience.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Post high school training in related field.
