Under immediate supervision, Decontaminates, cleans packages sterilizes, stores and distributes medical instruments, supplies in accordance with TITTLE 22 requirements and The Joint Commission standards. Fills request from user areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Upholds Kaiser Permanentes Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Disassembles, and cleans or decontaminates medical instruments, supplies and equipment using approved disinfectants, detergent soap, ultrasonic cleaning.
- Assembles, inspects, tests, wraps and dates medical instruments, supplies and equipment using such guides as illustrated manuals or lists aseptically; notifies Supervisor of needed repairs.
- Use of Steam, gas, and plasma sterilizers and reading of and transfer of Biological test Fills written, KPDS and telephone requisitions for all processed medical supplies and equipment; issues according to priority of need; delivers equipment and supplies as needed.
- Updates equipment inventory by logging in and out equipment.
- Cleans, and disinfects Biomedical and floor equipment Obtains required patient information when issuing equipment.
- Exchanges, builds, assembles Crash Carts for Hospital Units and Medical Group Clinics.
- Biological testing on Sterrads; make own test ampules; observe sterile technique; maintain sterile field.
- Picks up contaminated supplies and equipment; according to aseptic standards and returns to Sterile Processing.
- Establishes and maintains courteous cooperative relations with public, patients, and other personal.
- Examines sterilization date on medical instruments, supplies and equipment and replaces items no longer sterile.
- Pulls OR Schedules, reviews, analyzes and determines preference sheets to be utilized for cases.
- Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent with the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.

- Knowledge of Surgical instrumentation, Basic Microbiology, Basic Anatomy and Physiology.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and move in excess of 200 pounds.
- Ability to tolerate prolonged standing.
- Central Service Certification & Medical Terminology preferred.
