Lead IT Consultant Tiffany Chen always knew that she wanted to work within health care. She chose Kaiser Permanente because she believes in our mission and the value we bring to our communities.

“I do see myself moving up and continuing to work for Kaiser Permanente five or ten years from now. I strongly believe in Kaiser Permanente’s mission, vision, and values, and hope to continue to support it throughout my career.”

Tiffany started her career at Kaiser Permanente within the IT internship program and, since then, has transitioned to a full-time employee, citing the culture and support provided by her team as a main factor for her overall career success.

"I love coming to work every day because of my team and the people. The environment is so supportive, encouraging, inclusive, and overall such a great place to work. I can honestly say that I am one of those people who love coming into work every day — and I attribute that to my team and the culture we have built here," Chen says.

When asked to define the organization’s mission, Tiffany uses two words: total health. Which speaks to the organization’s commitment to ensuring that our communities are healthy, not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and financially.

In her role, Tiffany is always thinking about the bigger picture — what her work means for Kaiser Permanente’s members and communities — and the positive impact that work can have on the industry and beyond, saying, "To have an impact on our members and the communities we serve makes me really happy. Health care is evermore evolving to be technology-centric in today’s world and I am so excited to be a part of that!"

In fact, Kaiser Permanente’s outreach efforts — aimed at addressing the needs of the underserved and driving positive change in and beyond our neighborhoods and communities — is one of the things that inspires her most, motivating her to do more, both to reach her own career goals, and to help others along the way.

In addition to being compelled to help others, Tiffany is also a proud member of genKP, the organization’s largest national business resource group, in which she holds the position of Chief Operations Officer. Consisting of thousands of future leaders looking to make a positive impact, genKP provides opportunities for professional development and networking through unique events and programs designed to propel group members through their careers.

“I definitely feel like I am a more empowered person and employee since joining genKP, and especially as a genKP leader. I feel that I have gained experience and knowledge, and formed partnerships that I wouldn’t otherwise have, had it not been for genKP events and experiences. genKP gave me opportunities to be a leader and get things done.”

Chen is surrounded by a diverse team of like-minded people who all share the Kaiser Permanente vision. This creates a positive and empowering work environment where individual voices can be heard, and everyone feels supported and encouraged by peers and managers.

When asked if she has a good work-life balance, Chen again credits Kaiser Permanente’s culture and the support of her team for her ability to get everything she needs from both channels in her life.
