Description:
Provides non-invasive EDX services to KFHPW consumers under the supervision of the EDX physician; assists EDX physicians, as directed, in patient preparation, electrode placement, operation of EDX machinery, and patient care documentation. Strong customer service skills and efficiency in practice will be critical to the success of this service model.
Job Summary:
Provides non-invasive EDX services to KFHPW consumers under the supervision of the EDX physician; assists EDX physicians, as directed, in patient preparation, electrode placement, operation of EDX machinery, and patient care documentation. Strong customer service skills and efficiency in practice will be critical to the success of this service model.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform nerve conduction studies on patients making adjustments as necessary to obtain accurate and complete examination.
- Assist EDX physicians with EDX studies and support tasks related to invasive and non-invasive tests.
- Provide excellent customer experiences and provide education to the patient about the actual EMG procedure.
- Order supplies and facilitate EMG computer maintenance to include cleaning of equipment,calibration and detecting instrument malfunctions to report to biomedical personnel for follow up.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum one (1) year performance of NCSs under direct supervision of a physician or AAET board certified EDX consultant.
Education
- One (1) year of college with emphasis on physical or biological sciences.
- Eligible for AAET registry written and oral exam.
License, Certification, Registration
- Basic Life Support required at hire
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of physical or biological sciences with a focus on normal nerve and muscle anatomy; disease states encountered in NCS practice; NCS responses in normal and pathologic circumstances; and the operating principles pertinent to the electronic instrumentation.
- Computer skills, keyboarding.
- Customer service skills; communication, patient instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three (3) years of experience practicing in NCS field.
- Demonstrated electrodiagnostic knowledge and patient management skills.
- Demonstrated customer service and team oriented skills.
- Completed all three (3) sections of AAET registry exam with minimum score of 70% on each section and an overall minimum score of 75%.
